4 x 4 ROUTE
Welcome to Honingklip Farm and Ruwami, our private nature reserve. Most of your route will take you through the reserve. If you are lucky you might spot a Rheebok or two. We frequently notice Blue Cranes near the dam, as well as wild ducks. Try not to disturb them. We hope that they will get used to the vehicles!
On the lower slopes of the farm we grow pomegranates, olives and proteas. On the higher slopes in the nature reserve we have a number of scarce and endangered species. Please enjoy them and do not destroy them. When you reach the top boundary you will reach MTO Forestry Department. Please do not be tempted to ride there as you can be prosecuted.
On our reserve you will get wonderful views of the Elgin Valley, the Worcester Mountains and the Caledon district. Towards the ocean you look at Babylon's toring which forms part of the Hemel en Aarde Valley, towards Stanford and Gansbaai.
There is an obstacle course for those who wish to test their skills. All obstacles can be bypassed if you are not comfortable trying to do them.
Please follow the green arrows painted on rocks to follow the trail. Once you return to the start point at our community hall, please use the toilet facilities before following the red signs to the dam where you can braai in the designated area. You may swim at your own risk. The dam is deep, so if there are children, make sure you have the necessary safety equipment.
